CALCULUS AB
Phyllis Sprinkle is a veteran AB/BC Calculus teacher at Lake Brantley High School. She an Exam Reader for both AB and BC Calculus for the College Board, and will be presenting the National Workshop for beginning BC Calculus teachers at the National Convention in Washington DC this summer. She has been conducting summer institutes for the past ten years in various states. Phyllis is also a National Board Certified Teacher.
CHEMISTRY
Don Gribbons is a twenty-three year veteran teacher of Advance Placement Chemistry. For the past twelve years he has offered both multiple day and weeklong workshops throughout the country. He was recently honored by Stanford University in receiving the Frederick Terman Award for his contributions to the science education of high school students. In addition to his teaching duties, he served as a mentor to over 12 newly appointed chemistry teachers. Having served as a cross-country and track coach for the past thirty plus years – he is an Inducted Member of the Massachusetts Track Coaches Hall of Fame.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE & COMPOSITION
ENGLISH LITERATURE & COMPOSITION
Sylvia Sarrett is an AP Language Table Leader, a College Board Consultant in AP Language & AP Literature, a high school teacher in Tampa, Florida, and a National Board Certified Teacher. She believes that expanded text, non-fiction in all its permutations, and argument as the epicenter make the idea that "Rhetoric is Everywhere" substantive and pleasurable.
PSYCHOLOGY
Larry Stombaugh has taught AP Psychology at the Career Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the past eighteen years. He was the Teacher of the Year for his high school for the 2001-2002 school year and was one of four finalists for that honor for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school district during that year. He served as a grader for the AP Psychology exam for eight years, and has been a consultant for the College Board since 2000. In that role, he has taught one-day and weeklong workshops in eight states. He also helped to pilot on-line learning in North Carolina as both a course developer and an instructor for the North Carolina Virtual High School. Larry has also submitted lab and classroom activities to various publishers for inclusion in several books and study guides, and he has served as a consultant and reviewer for psychology textbooks.
STATISTICS
Jeane Swaynos has been teaching for over 20 years and teaching Advance Placement Statistics since 1998. She has been a reader for 6 years and is presently in her second year as a table leader. She has been doing workshops across the country for three years, has her National Board Certification for over 10 years, and was a Presidential Finalist for the State of Florida in 2005.
STUDIO ART
For the past thirty nine years, Fran Gertz has had the privilege of instructing Visual Arts Students, and has worked with Advanced Placement students for the past twenty years. Fran is a professional artist, College Board Endorsed Consultant, and a Studio Portfolio Reader. The Educational systems and regions that she has worked in include, Florida where she was educated, to Spain, Italy, Virginia, and finally to North Carolina. Fran started the AP® Studio Art Program in all but one of these areas. She is currently National Board Certified and is instructing AP® Studio Art as well as serving as Adjunct Professor at Sandhills Community College.
U.S. GOVERNMENT & POLITICS
PAUL LEVY taught Advanced Placement U.S. Government and Comparative Government at West Potomac High School in Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia. Mr. Levy has taught AP American Government, Constitutional Law and Comparative Government and has served as a member of the AP Test and Curriculum Development Committee for Government and Politics. He has been a consultant to the College Board since 1989, has been a reader of the AP exams and has taught many summer institutes since 1991. Mr. Levy has written teacher’s manuals for both comparative and United States government and has authored or coauthored review books for students in both Advanced Placement United States and Comparative Government and Politics courses.
U.S. HISTORY
Tony Miller, after earning his BA from Guilford College, MA and PhD degrees in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, taught AP United States History for 35 years at the Bolles School in Jacksonville, FL. He has also served as a Consultant for the College Board for 25 years as well as a Reader and Table Leader for ETS in U.S. History. Tony has conducted AP one day workshops and U.S. History Summer Institutes throughout the Southeast since 1984.
WORLD HISTORY
Colin Ramsay is a Social Studies teacher at Lemon Bay High School in Englewood, Florida. He teaches AP World History and AP U.S. Government and Politics. He began teaching AP courses in 1981, and has taught AP European History, AP American History, AP Macro and Micro Economics, AP Comparative Government and AP Human Geography. He has been a reader of the World History exam since 2002, and is currently a table leader at the exam. Colin has been a College Board consultant since 2005.
