The applied research practicum is one of many practical applications included in the teaching and learning specialization. In Applied Research Practicum Part I, students will develop a project proposal that identifies a need or problem and the creation of a viable solution based on educational research. The proposal must be approved by the student’s advisor, reader, and the Institutional Review Board. In Applied Research Practicum Part II, students will actively engage in problem-solving in an educational setting and implement their approved proposal for a minimum of 12 weeks, monitor progress toward the objectives, using formative and summative assessment strategies, analyze the resulting data, and write a final report.

• Satisfactory completion of all required coursework
• Successful completion of the Applied Research Practicum parts I and II
• Cumulative maintained grade point average of 3.0 or higher
• Completed application for degree

Faculty members for the master of science in education program are recognized scholars and educators from Nova Southeastern University and other major universities and institutions throughout the United States and the Caribbean, as well as professional practitioners. NSU hires practitioners with backgrounds in teaching, educational leadership, and administration. Students are able to network and develop professional contacts who can help place them in their future schools.
