The minor in brain-based leadership equips doctoral students with current research, theory, and best practices for increasing student achievement by ensuring that education is aligned with how the brain learns best. Most of what is known about the human brain has been discovered in the last two decades and the courses in this concentration explore new research on the nature of leadership and the cognitive skills that have the greatest impact on leadership effectiveness. Students will put the key implications of this research into practice to learn to lead more effectively.

The concentration component of the Doctor of Education program allows students to maximize their knowledge and skills of their current and/or an emerging field. Students seeking a Ph.D. in applied behavior analysis should consider our Ed.D. program with a minor in applied behavior analysis. Concentrations require a minimum of 18 credits in the area of study, but may require up to 24 credits. Concentration courses must be taken online.

Through the elective component, students individualize their doctoral degrees. Depending on the number of credits required in the main concentration, students must complete the minimum 66-credit requirement using electives. These electives may also be applied toward a second concentration (18–24 credits) or a minor (15 credits). Elective courses must be taken online.
