About The Specialization

The master of science in education with a specialization in charter school education leadership focuses on administration, leadership, and teaching in charter schools. This specialization provides students with training in the overall educational industry, curriculum, assessment, managing and governing of a charter school, public relations, and various other topics of interest to the charter school stakeholder. Course content is research based and infuses best practices in education.

Charter School Leadership Internship

Convenient Delivery Options

Coursework for the charter school education leadership specialization is conducted entirely online. This approach allows students to receive and submit coursework and interact with participants and professors via the Internet. This distance delivery option allows busy professionals to complete their degrees without having to leave their jobs or travel long distances.

School Leadership Internship

The school leadership internship is one of the many practical applications included in the charter school education leadership specialization. It is the final step in the completion of the program. The purpose of this internship is to provide the candidate with an opportunity to perform the duties of an administrator in an actual work setting. Under the guidance of an experienced, cooperating administrator and a faculty supervisor, the intern is provided with opportunities to interview, observe, work with, and perform the duties of school leaders in a charter school setting. Candidates must complete leadership portfolios and seminars related to the role and responsibilities of school leaders.

In addition many are also highly respected professional practitioners, who are carefully selected on the basis of their subject expertise, teaching abilities, and professional involvement. Successful completion of School Leadership Internship
Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
Completed application for degree
