Coursework for the master’s degree in curriculum and instruction is conducted entirely online and at an accelerated pace using a cohort model. Students from various geographic areas are grouped based on their term start, and progress through the six-week program modules together. This approach allows students to receive and submit coursework and interact with participants and professors via the Internet. This distance education option allows busy professionals and international students the option to complete their degree without having to leave their jobs or travel a long distance to our South Florida campuses.

The special topics courses are one of many practical applications included in the curriculum, instruction, and technology specialization. This culminating experience is the final step in the completion of the program. In Special Topics I, students survey issues in curriculum planning, organization, and design, including programs in elementary and secondary schools, courses of study, teaching and resources, evaluation of curriculum, and curriculum design and delivery. In Special Topics II, students are required to provide an analysis and synthesis of the individual student’s learning experiences through research, evaluation, and practical application of projects, programs, and procedures developed throughout the program of study.

Faculty members for the master of science degree program in education are scholars and educators from Nova Southeastern University and other major universities and institutions throughout the country. In addition many are also highly respected professional practitioners, who are carefully selected on the basis of their subject expertise, teaching abilities, and professional involvement. Most importantly, they are united in their desire to not only educate, but to inspire students to use what they learn to motivate others.
