Master of Science in Education with a Specialization in Teaching And Learning (Degree Only)

About the Program

The M.S. in Education with a specialization in Teaching and Learning focuses on training educators to conduct an effective learning environment in the classroom. This specialization provides educators with skills for classroom management, assessment, and curriculum development, as well as in-depth study of the effects of psychology, culture, and society on learning. Course content is research-based and infuses best practices in education.

Convenient Delivery Options

Coursework for the teaching and learning specialization is conducted entirely online. This approach allows students to receive and submit coursework and interact with participants and professors via the Internet. This distance delivery option allows busy professionals to complete their degrees without having to leave their jobs or travel long distances.

 
Field-Based Project

The field-based project is one of many practical applications included in the teaching and learning specialization. This culminating experience is the final step in the completion of the program. The purpose of the field-based project is to engage the candidate in a problem-solving experience designed to improve or enhance an educational situation. The process is systematic and involves submission of a formal practicum proposal; active participation, implementation, and/or research; evaluation of the activities; and submission of a final portfolio.

 
Faculty

Faculty members for the master of science degree program in education are scholars and educators from Nova Southeastern University and other major universities and institutions throughout the country. In addition many are also highly respected professional practitioners, who are carefully selected on the basis of their subject expertise, teaching abilities, and professional involvement. Most importantly, they are united in their desire to not only educate, but to inspire students to use what they learn to motivate others.

 
Completion Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of all required coursework
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Successful completion of the field-based project
  • Completed application for degree

Students are advised to contact their state department of education or an Enrollment Services Representative (Academic Advisor) to determine if this program is suitable for certification/licensure and their career goals.
