Earning a doctorate is one of those rare career highlights that holds a lifetime of memories. An important part of the mission of Nova Southeastern University is to establish career-long relationships with graduates. Phi Gamma Sigma is the finest way to honor outstanding colleagues who have earned a doctorate through the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education. It is our way of forging that career-long relationship critical to continued growth and is a means of strengthening ties to one another, while making important contributions to communities of learners around the world.

A Distinguished History

Professional organizations have a long and distinguished history in higher education. Traditionally, organizations have selected their members on the basis of eligibility standards that have been applied to all graduates of accredited institutions. Historically, academic degree status has been used as the eligibility criterion. While this criterion was originally designated for all graduate levels, the minimum has been set at the master's degree level. We, at the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education, raise the standard of professional education to the doctoral level. The result is an organization focused on professional accomplishments and life-long learning.

The primary purpose of this international professional society, Phi Gamma Sigma, is to celebrate the academic excellence of outstanding doctoral graduates. Phi Gamma Sigma offers the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education this opportunity to recognize its outstanding alumni who have excelled and made significant professional contributions.
